The company BioSan was founded by a group of scientists from the Latvian Academy of Sciences Institute of Microbiology. Since 2005, BioSan has been a Latvian-English joint venture aspiring to world leadership in life science – sample preparation and analysis. The company's philosophy is based on the development of contemporary personal products with unusual properties for the preparation of samples in the field of genomics, proteomics and cellonomics. Recent trends are diagnostic technologies that have been elevated to the level of detecting genetic, metabolic and cellular disease biopolymorphisms.

Support
For several years, BioSan has supported the University of Latvia Faculty of Chemistry: Young Chemists Competition (2008, 2009, 2010) with EUR 500 and UL Days of Chemists (for more than 5 years). Special thanks for funding T-shirts for UL Days of Chemists!
In 2001, BioSan supported the publication of advertising materials on the alumni reunion for the UL Faculty of Biology, in the amount of EUR 355.72.
In 2015, BioSan supported "UL Chemists' Freshmen Event 2015" organized by the UL Faculty of Chemistry Student Self-Government, in the amount of EUR 180.
In 2017, the support was extended for "UL Chemists' Freshmen Event 2017" organized by the UL Faculty of Chemistry Student Self-Government, in the amount of EUR 250. The company also supported the 51st International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry with a donation of EUR 200.
In 2018, BioSan supported "UL Chemists' Freshmen Event" in the amount of EUR 270.
In 2019, the company supported UL Faculty of Biology doctoral student Dita Gudrā by donating EUR 1 500 for establishment of a scholarship.
