Sidrabe sells new R&D processes and technologically sophisticated industrial vacuum coating equipment. Established in 1992.
The company cooperates with customers representing different industries (electronics, solar power, glass coatings) around the world, and the range of end products manufactured by the newly developed equipment is very different: 1) electronics – LCD displays, printed flexible plates, 2) solar panels, 3) special coatings – greenhouse glass, architectural glass, 4) 3D parts for various applications – decorative coatings, etc.
The donation of Sidrabe in 2007 helped to launch a Solid State Physics Scholarship to support and motivate aspiring and talented students of the UL Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Optometry who are intent on profound studies of solid state physics.

In the 2007/2008 academic year, the scholarship was awarded to Andrejs Petruhins (EUR 1 450).
In the 2008/2009 academic year, the scholarship was awarded to Andrejs Petruhins (EUR 2 150) and Pāvels Nazarovs (EUR 2 150).
In the 2009/2010 academic year – to Pāvels Nazarovs (EUR 2 150).
In the 2011/2012 academic year, the scholarship was awarded to three students: Gints Kučinskis (EUR 2 150), Mārtiņš Sarma (EUR 1 450) and Kaspars Pudžs (EUR 2 150).
In the 2013/2014 academic year, the scholarship was awarded to three students: Kaspars Pudžs (EUR 2 850), Edgars Butanovs (EUR 1 450) and Virgīnija Liepiņa (EUR 2 150).
In the 2014/2015 academic year – to Everita Vīna (EUR 1 450).
