Stage I. Applying for a scholarship
Documents required for scholarship application:
- completed electronic scholarship application form (see below);
- two letters of recommendation from the director of applicant’s secondary education institution, a teacher, the head of an out-of-school and/or interest education institution, a lecturer or another person who has worked closely with the applicant on projects, etc.;
- CV or Curriculum Vitae (in Europass format);
- a free-format essay about applicant’s favourite patron (up to 6 000 characters with spaces);
- other documents – see the list included in the scholarship application form below.
Scholarship Commission carefully evaluates each application and invites the most promising applicants for a personal interview.
Stage II. Interview
In a personal interview, the student must be able to justify his/her eligibility for the scholarship within 10 to 15 minutes – it is a conversation about past achievements, future goals and how the scholarship will help to achieve them. In case of a positive result, a scholarship will be awarded for the duration of the academic year. This scholarship period will also include cooperation with other scholarship recipients – talented and enthusiastic young people from various faculties.
Scholarship – the launch base of student's life
The University of Latvia Foundation annually supports more than 100 talented University of Latvia students. Scholarships are an important financial support in the learning process, they promote growth and excellence.
The main goal of the support is to create favourable conditions for students to fully dedicate themselves to thorough acquisition of the chosen study programme and to obtain an internationally recognized higher education. The amount of the scholarship ranges from EUR 1 500 to 7 000 per academic year.
The number and types of scholarships, as well as their sources vary from year to year.
Motivational support is available:
- at bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels;
- to students of social sciences, humanities and exact sciences.
