Development of the visual ergonomics research environment
Benefits to the University of Latvia:
• Optometry studies have the opportunity to develop a new field, thus raising the quality of education of optometrists, increasing competitiveness in the Baltic and European educational space.
• Creation of a unique Vision Ergonomics Cabinet in the Baltics will further the capacity of research, training and vision tests.
• Additional funding for science will be attracted from other projects, cooperation will be established with private companies that need knowledge, research results that confirm the benefits of devices and services, or recommendations for the development of a new product or improvement of an existing product.
• The results of research will be published in high-quality international journals and the image of the University of Latvia as a university of science is reinforced.

• High quality vision care services, new diagnostic methods that in the future will help finding solutions to people's visual impairments and discomfort arising from the specifics of work.
• Information obtained from independent experts on household and work environment devices that are safe for the vision.
